Why would I need a certificate of elevation?
FEMA (The Federal Emergency Management Agency) has recently made revisions to flood plain maps in south central Texas. These changes effect numerous properties in the Hill Country and San Antonio area. If your home is inside the boundary of the flood plain, you must have an elevation certificate in order to obtain flood insurance. Typically these maps show the flood plain boundary and/or elevation for a particular location, however, boundaries of the flood plain, as depicted on FEMA maps, are not always correct.
